I haven't tried Epson's scanning software as yet, but sometime soon I will install that software and carry out the same tests to see what happens. So it appears to be a software issue rather than a hardware problem, an issue that may only be present in certain versions of the software used. I then decided to try out VueScan Pro (ver 9.7.40) yesterday to see if the results were better or worse, where I quickly noticed that the photographs I scanned were slightly stretched along the vertical when I compared them to the same photographs rotated 90 degrees and then scanned.Īt first I thought it may be a problem with the scanner that I somehow didn't notice with Silverfast, and so went back to Silverfast and scanned the same photographs vertically and horizontally and they were perfectly fine, exactly the same in both axis with no stretching. In other words, no stretching, and so I didn't even consider it as a problem. I've only recently purchased this Epson scanner and I'm no expert myself, so I'm currently testing different software to see which I prefer and which works best, where I began with Silverfast AI Studio (ver 8.8), for which scanning a photograph vertically and horizontally resulted in exactly the same image when rotated and scanned again. In combination with a variety of innovative ideas and the usage of current software technology, SilverFast has been evolved that we can proudly present as the best scanner software.
